Jets Bendigo - Squad Update PDF Print
Wednesday, 16 November 2011 00:00

Term 4 marks the end of a very successful competition season for all of our Jets Bendigo Squad gym-nasts. A highlight of the competition season was the recent Natimuk Invitational Competition and Level Award Test. Gymnasts from as far as Melbourne, Mildura and Warnambool competed for both Team and Apparatus medals and the opportunity to pass their State and National Levels. The Level 6 Team won the competi-tion as well as a swag of individual medals (see full results below). In addition all senior squad gym-nasts have passed at least one level with 6 of our gymnasts achieving two levels in the one year. This is a wonderful result for only our second year of State stream competition.

More importantly our gymnasts should be commended on the way they carried themselves throughout the Natimuk competi-tion. Competition judges and spectators commented on how beautifully the girls were groomed and how they presented themselves throughout the com-petition. The girls had an individu-al gymnast from Portland in their group and their coach thanked us for making her feel so welcome and encouraged by our girls. Natimuk results were as follows: (awards given for first - fifth)

Level 4
Grace Kopp passed
Mikayla Berryman passed
Rose Allan passed and third on bars

Level 5
Bronte O'Keefe passed - third on Beam - fourth on bars - fifth over-all

Level 6
(Team placed first overall)
Alexandra Allan passed -twelfth overall
Sarah Seery passed - eleventh overall
Danielle Espagne - passed fifth overall - first on Vault - second on bars - third on beam
Ashlee Richmond - passed fourth overall - second on Vault - first on bars - second on floor
Eliza Sabaliauskas - passed third overall - fifth on bars - first on beam - fifth on floor
Amy Walker York Moore - passed first overall - fourth on Vault - third on bars - second on beam - first on floor

Club CHampionships

Senior Squad has competed in Jets Club Championships, Mildura Invitational, Natimuk Invitational and the Victorian State Champi-onships this year. Our gymnasts worked very hard using the advice and learning experience from Victorian Championships and it really showed in Natimuk. 2011 has also been a year in which many gymnasts have moved up into squad develop-ment groups in preparation for eventual competition involve-ment. Congratulations to all of the senior satellites and junior squad for their hard work and commitment to the Squad pro-gram. We look forward to many of these gymnasts stepping up to Level 4 State stream competition next year. Finally a huge thank-you to all of the State stream parents for their support throughout the year. Especially the Parent fund raising group who paid for the mirrors in the ballet room, subsidized ac-commodation for the Mildura Invitational and paid for judging staff for the Natimuk competition.
