Jets Gisborne 2011 - The year that was PDF Print
Saturday, 10 December 2011 00:00

As 2011 draws to a close we say farewell to Amanda Eastwood our Programs Manager. Amanda has been with us for two & a half years now and during that time she has helped to manage the Mini Jets program and oversee most of our recreational streams. Amanda also mentored our train-ee coaches through their ongoing development.

Amanda has decided to source work closer to her home of Balla-rat and we wish her well in all her future endeavours and will miss that welsh accent and delightful laugh. Good luck Amanda! With that being said, I’d like to inform you that recent Jets Gis-borne recruit, Ruth Taylor, will be taking on the role of Programs Manager with great gusto and we look forward to supporting her in this new role. As we look back over a very busy 2011, we experienced some won-derful growth in all our programs.

Jets Gymnastics Gisborne has not only successfully hosted our Jets Gymnastics Club Championships for the second year in a row, but we saw our gymnasts walk away with many of the awards during that competition. This was also the case during the other Jets and external Competi-tions throughout the year.
Well Done to all our gymnasts who competed at these events!!

2011 has seen the introduction of an Adults class on Tuesday nights which has been a huge success and led to many achieving skills beyond their wildest dreams. Jets has introduced its online iClass system this year, allowing parents the ability to access their account online, access to book classes online and make pay-ments. This has been a great suc-cess!

Squad Update

Our squad program has recently completed their competition sea-son which culminated in some great results. In our National Level 4 program Molly Sparke made it through to finals, with Sophie Marsh making it through as reserve.
A great effort!!!!

Kiara Shapcott was awarded State Level 4 Champion and Sophie Wilson State Level 6 Champion at our Jets Club Championships in September
Monique Holmes was awarded 2nd place for State Level 6.
All our squad girls worked very hard throughout the year to achieve some amazing results. Well done girls!

DISPLAY DAY!!!

Wow what a day we all had on Sunday 27th Nov as all our won-derful Space Cadet gymnasts performed their wonderful rou-tines for all to see. We were entertained as our Com-ets, Meteors, Stars and more flew through space as they somer-saulted, cartwheeled, and flipped through their wonderful routines. A big thank you to all who attend-ed and participated to make it yet another exciting and enjoyable Display Day. We would also like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to all our fantas-tic coaches who did such a great job throughout the day.

Gymnast and Coach of the Term

This term we have awarded Gym-nast of the term to a very enthusi-astic gymnast who attends our Trampolining program, Christo-pher Todarello. Well Done Chris-topher! Our coach of the term was award-ed to Catherine Sear who has stepped up to take on managing our squad program during the later half of this year. We thank Catherine for her fan-tastic efforts in coaching and sup-porting our Development, State and National programs through-out the years training and compe-tition regime. Great Work Cathrine! And to finish up, I’d like wish eve-ryone a safe and happy holiday period and I look forward to see-ing all in 2012!
