4 gymnasts from Jets Gymnastics - Harriet Adcock (17), Isis Lowery (13), Brittany Engellener (13) & Brianne Allen (12) along with coaches Sally Young and Ross Bouskill travelled to the USA to compete in the Nadia Comaneci Invitational and WOGA Classic. The experience was definitely one the girls will never forget, especially their visit to Oklahoma University Gymnastics’ program and meeting Nadia herself.
The girls competed as Senior / Junior International at the Nadia Comaneci Invitational with Harriet Adcock finishing 6th All Around in the Senior Division and Isis Lowery 6th All Around in the Junior Division. The girls then travelled on to Dallas Texas for a week of training a WOGA and finished off their tour competing in the WOGA classic (Isis – Junior International, Brianne, Brittany & Harriet as Level 10’s).
The girls definitely noted the incredibly competitive environment of the USA and the fabulous system for developing gymnastics – who could believe that in one state there could be 4 gym’s absolutely full with level 10’s all competing at the same time !!!! We hope to be able to bring much of what we learned back to our gym and Victoria – there is so much we could learn here in Australia from their system.
NBC news even did a story on these Aussie Gymnasts travelling to Oklahoma for their coldest day ever -18ºC !!!! - Check out the video.
